Hephzibah, GA -- For Richard Johnson, it's not just about helping young people; it's about following the calling: "to whom much is given, much will be required."

Richard Johnson, Giving Your Best Award winner: "This is not the kind of program where one is getting rich, making money. It's something that comes from the heart, something you wanna do and, sometimes, you have to sacrifice what you normally could have for yourself to give to others."

Johnson says his mission is to help young men overcome misfortunes they've had in their lives.

Johnson: "We're focusing on the young men, 'cause we feel like, if we can get their heads straight, the follow-up will be okay. But, we're not overlooking the females. Females are important!"

The Children Christian Home and Family Resource Center has a library for school work, with computers...a community closet filled with clothes...and a workout, gym area where the boys can let off steam.

Johnson: "One thing we impress with our boys is organization."

...From laid out clothes, made up beds and neat dressers...and this is serious business. Check out the "room of the week" award. Awards are important, because he sees children who carry scars: visible wounds from beatings...and invisible ones, from neglect, abandonment and verbal abuse.

Resharda Coleman, Richard Johnson's daughter: "He's a generous, kind-hearted man. I think sometimies I get a little jealous of how much he's giving to the guys. I'm like, 'hey, you didn't do that with me when I was little,' you know if I did that I'd get in a lot of trouble. It takes a lot of patience and heart to do what he's doing."

Giving his best, to help others have the chance to thrive.
