TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - William Ford ran 44 yards for the game-winning score to lead South Carolina State in a 28-21 win over Florida A&M on Saturday.
Ford, who scored with 2:14 left in the third quarter, rushed 23 times for 149 yards, and Malcolm Long completed 18 of 29 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs (4-2, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
Curtis Pulley completed 8-of-15 passes for 125 yards and one interception, and added 66 yards on 13 carries for the Rattlers (3-2, 1-2).
Long and Oliver Young connected on touchdown passes of 18 and 32 yards in the first quarter to give South Carolina State a 14-0 lead.
The Bulldogs extended the lead with 4:42 left in the second quarter when Terrance Smith picked up a fumbled lateral and ran it 41 yards for a touchdown that made it 20-0 at the half.
