Giving Your Best
The Giving Your Best Award honors people in our community who have made a significant difference in the lives of others. Award Recipients are selected based on their contributions to our community and ongoing efforts, above and beyond their job, to help others.
Embracing the Vision
Embracing the Vision will highlight our region's remarkable achievements and the many other attributes that make this area such a great place to live, work and do business. Each month, WJBF recognizes a local business that strives for community development.
Your Hometown
Your Hometown began in 1994, as a way for WJBF News Channel 6 to focus on the pride and progress going on in our local communities. Your Hometown captures to essence of our towns in the CSRA, by highlighting what makes them special, unique, and inviting! Plus, Your Hometown is a great way for our News Team to get to know our communities and the interesting people who live and work there, by spending quality time with them, in their hometown!
Children First
The Children First campaign in Aiken-Augusta delivers positive and action-oriented messages to children and their parents and families. We hope to help kids overcome the obstacles that inhibit their growth and learning potential by stressing what each adult can do to help them. The Children First message stresses that “there IS something each of us can do, to help children”.
Out There Somewhere
“Out There Somewhere” is a local franchise created by WJBF senior reporter George
Eskola. In the late eighties, George was charged by then-news director Pete
Michenfelder to find some human interest stories in our viewing area, beyond
metro Augusta. George and his photographer went “Out There” and has been doing
it ever since. Highlights include his first sojourn into “Scandinavian” South
Carolina, in Denmark and visits to Ninety-Six and Santa Claus Georgia. WJBF News
Channel 6 recognizes Out There Somewhere as a positive and often memorable way to
close out the news every Friday. Out There Somewhere has won numerous awards for
excellence in Feature News Storytelling.
