Fresh off his double-digits runoff win, Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss says his party must return to its conservative roots.

The U.S. Senate race may have grabbed much of the headlines, but voters also quietly decided contests to fill open seats on the Court of Appeals and the Public Service Commission.

Polling precincts around Georgia have closed after reporting a light turnout and few problems. Thousands of Georgia voters cast their ballots to decide the runoff between U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss and Democrat Jim Martin.

The U.S. Senate runoff is set for Tuesday, pitting imcumbent Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss against challenger, Democrat Jim Martin. Both made stops in Augusta on Monday.

Atlanta Rally set for Wednesday

Campaigning kicked into high gear in Georgia’s U.S. Senate runoff. Sen. Saxby Chambliss swept through several rallies in north Georgia. Democrat Jim Martin campaigned in and around Savannah.

State Rep. Wallace Scarborough is challenging the loss of his Charleston-area House seat in last week’s election. The Republican lawmaker lost to Democrat Anne Peterson Hutto by 211 votes.

Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss, of Georgia, is rallying the GOP to save his seat. The incumbent is scheduled to faceoff with Democrat Jim Martin in a runoff vote on December 2nd. Lori Geary has more in a WJBF News Channel 6 Vote 08 report.
