LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - A 40-year-old Lexington County man accused of raping and impregnating his 11-year-old stepdaughter has been denied bond.
Lexington County Sheriff’s Major John Allard said a magistrate denied bond at a hearing Wednesday morning.
Sheriff James Metts said the Pelion man was arrested Tuesday, the day the stepdaughter discovered at a hospital that she’s pregnant. The suspect is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct. An arrest warrant accuses him of raping his stepdaughter in their home in September. The sheriff said the girl has known him since she was 2.
The mother called police Monday.
The man’s name is not being made public to protect the girl’s identity.
