COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Two days of celebrations for new University of South Carolina president Harris Pastides are getting under way with a pizza party put on by students.
Several bands are scheduled to perform at “Pastides Palooza” this afternoon, and the school says students will also present a gift to Pastides.
The former vice president for research and health sciences will be officially installed as president tomorrow, followed by a public reception.
Pastides was chosen to replace retiring president Andrew Sorensen in July. He officially took over as president in August.
