SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say they have caught a gunman suspected of shooting a fellow student at Savannah State University. Campus Police Chief Thomas Trawick says the wounded student knew the suspect and that the shooting Friday morning happened during a fight between them.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police spokeswoman Judy Pal identifies the suspect as 19-year-old Devon McIntosh. She says a police dog sniffed him out and officers found him hiding in the trunk of a car on campus. The wounded student’s name has not been released.
The campus of 3,400 students along Georgia’s coast was locked down but reopened after the gunman was in custody.
