SPECIAL REPORT: Racy Women’s Clothing

Several months ago we brought you a special report on communities trying to fight back on saggy pants. We received a big response from viewers, like you, and many posed the question: If men are being targeted about wearing offensive clothing, why not women? Our Fraendy Clervaud has the story in this Racy Clothing Special Report.

Augusta, GA—Within each generation comes a trend, and sometimes that style can be quite controversial. From the runaway to the streets, ladies’ fashion always seem to grab your attention.

Michael Johnson, Principal, Evans Middle School: “As a society were becoming more tolerant to me as a parent and law abiding citizen i find it really offensive.”

Michael Johnson is the principal of Evans Middle School. He says he sees many young ladies sometimes expressing themselves in ways that can effect them emotionally.

Michael Johnson: “Be presentable dress presentable and carry yourself presentable that way when you are perceived in the public lose than you are going to cast a negative light on yourself.“

While heading to the grocery store, or the mall, you may see plenty of cleavage, low back sides, hip huggers and sometimes exposed underwear. We talked to some who say it’s up to the person to express themselves.

Jessica: “I’m all on board. I own plenty of deep v shirts and plenty of tight clothings, so I’m all for it.“

Ronisha: “Anything you wear is an expression of yourself, so you don’t have to show your body to be expressing yourself.”

Sara Boyett is the owner of Halo Salon and Spa. She deals with many coming into her store with the latest trends, and as a mother of two, she tries to monitor their clothing.

Sara Boyett: “If we do short shirts we make sure we do tights that are not see though so the tights are down so there no way of seeing underneath the shirt even when they sit down.”

So why are some ladies dressing risqué. Some say music videos and television shows can be a huge big factor.

Ronisha: “There’s a certain body image that we supposed to have, we’re supposed to be extremely thin and long hair and everything everybody is not built the same way, so everybody can’t wear the same thing.”

Others say some ladies just what the attention that comes when flaunting their features. Stacy Haskins is a local fashion designer. She says some of these racy trends may be a thing of the past.

Stacy Haskins, fashion designer: “ I feel like the designers are noticing that and they are rising the jeans low rise back to a higher rise making things better used to be mini now their coming down to the knee think they saw it out there and didn’t see what they liked.

So whatever you chose to wear the decision is up to you. But just remember what you wear might just have some turning heads.

Whenever I see young ladies where skimpy clothes, and their “undies” sticking out from their backside, where you know what type they are wearing, I think they really need to get some descent clothes on because it is embarrassing to me to even have to see this.  They can call it “expressing themselves” all they want but all it is telling others is that there is a street corner waiting for them where they can earn some extra tax-free cash to buy some better clothes.  These young ladies are intelligent human beings, and there are better ways to get attention than to dress like a prostitute.

Just stop and think about it. Why do you think there are Hooter girls and NASCAR girls and Cheerleaders and such?

It’s like this if you got it flaunt it. If a girl/woman has a nice shape to show off by all means they should because any normal guy that says they don’s like it is lying. Although there are limits. A big boned/large person should cover up them jelly rolls. As for guys wearing their knickers down under their butts, I don’t care who you are there’s nothing sexy or good looking about that.
