AIKEN, S.C. – GRU Augusta’s season came to a halt on Sunday night when top-ranked USC Aiken handed the Jaguars a 78-58 loss in the semifinal game of the NCAA Southeast Regional in the Convocation Center. GRU (24-8) won the scramble for the opening tipoff, but Ryan Weems missed a finger-roll layup and Alvin Brown connected on a jumper for the Pacers (31-3) to take the first points of the game. ATHENS, GA - The University of Georgia men's basketball team has earned an at-large berth in the 2014 National Invitation Tournament and will play Vermont in Athens in the first round on Wednesday night. Tipoff is at 8:00 p.m. Georgia, at 19-13 (12-6 in SEC), is one of four No. 2 seeds in the 32-team field. The winner on Wednesday will face the winner of the Louisiana Tech-Iona first-round matchup.
